Brief Introduction
I am from Beijing, China. I have been doing research for
four years at Case Western Reserve
University in the Department
of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, under
my advisor, Dr. Yoh-Han
Pao. I got my Master's degree in August, 2001 from EECS, CWRU. I am now
a Ph.D. candidate in the same department and the Center for Computational Genomics.
Research Interests
Computational Intelligence, Bioinformatics,
Applications of Neural Networks, Pattern Recognition, Modeling Complex Biomolecular
Systems,Visualizaition of Multivariate Data.
Before the summer of 2001, my major research
was focusing on the applications of Computational Intelligence on material systems.
This project was directed by Dr.Pao and co-operated with AFRL. One of the tasks
was to predict whether a materials system will form compound or not, based on
knowledge of many other known exemplars. The further step was to suggest certain
materials systems which satisfy the needs or requirements of system properties,
such as the melting temperature. In this project, we applied various clustering
methods, neural networks and evolutionary searching algorithms, such as
GESA (Guided Evolutionary Simulated Annealing) and got satisfactory results.
Now, I am doing research at the Center for Computational
Genomics. One of the projects in progress is the analysis and visualization
of gene expression data. This project also involves the efforts from the Department
of Genetics, CWRU. Another project is about the dynamic system modeling.
